characteristics　by　other　than　very　slow　degrees；　or　that　he　took　in　

more　than　half　a　one　at　a　time；　or　that　he　even　made　up　his　mind　

upon　　　　　that；　　　without　　　　a　　　great　　　deal　　　of　　very　　　serious　　　　consideration。
